One of the greatest classics in the English language, Herman Melville's novel Moby Dick, already described the pleasure of sailing as a method to "ward off melancholy and regulate circulation." . Here, the world of water was visited and revisited through tales such as that of Iara, the most famous mermaid in Brazilian folklore. It is from this that Weiss Arquitetura designed the
Hall Mãe das Águas for
CASACOR São Paulo in 2019. The duo Barbara Garcia de Carvalho and Tide Junqueira repeat the dose after the success of their last participation in the show in Ribeirão Preto, last year, with an underwater rescue in terms of colors and textures.
The blue and white tiles contrast with the wood at the entrance, where visitors are surprised by a suspended sculpture that resembles a mermaid's tail. By Daniel Paschoalin, the work features twists and ties of wire that resemble three-dimensional drawings. art, in fact, is a way in which architects translate the charms of the sea, as is also the case with the work by Recife artist Kilian Glasner, which tops two antique pink armchairs.
The color palette comes straight from the deep waters, and in the hall, shades of green, blue and white are predominant. In contrast, raw and earthy tones close to this give a feeling of comfort. The wooden paneling, which runs through all the walls of the room, contributes a calm neutrality, which also warms.
Brazilianness is one of the project's fronts, which is present not only in Iara's theme, but in the nationally designed furniture, in addition to natural materials, such as wood, straw and leather.
Antique pieces are highlighted, alluding to an emotional and family memory.
