Entre.Quadros Gallery: a surprising journey at CASACOR Brasília

At first glance, Galeria Entre.Quadros looks more like an art installation than a place to house works of art. With 85 m², the creative space was designed by Gabriella Chiarelli, from Lez Arquitetura, for CASACOR Brasília 2019. The architect participates this year of the CASACOR Windows project, in the Brasilia edition.

The entire concept of the space was born from the beauty of the city's sunset, captured by the lens of photographer Bento Viana. He is the curator responsible for the works on display and also has some of his other photographs on display. The gallery is a sloping corridor with a path of stairs and one of ramp.

Deconstruction and color blocks

The walls that house the artworks are not uniform, which makes the next painting a surprise to be discovered. The architect also chose not to follow the same proportion and scale on the steps. This ensures that the visitor remains interested and can experience different sensations with every step. Every piece in the Gallery seems to have its own individual environment for contemplation. Another aspect that deserves to be highlighted is the choice of colors. The monochromatic blocks that spread from the ceiling to the floor immediately catch the eye. The aim was to break the expectation of light and neutral tones of “traditional” galleries. Bright colors were used, complemented by earthy tones. For the floor, two porcelain tile models in five different colors were applied.
