Visitors have the experience of being in a space that, in addition to accommodating the car, functions as an elegant exhibition gallery and a casual social area.

In an area of 50 m², the architecture firm SJ2a created a garage with few elements, but with a strong visual impact. “Our starting point was an executive who is in tune with the times, who values design and technology not only in his car, but in his home as well. He also enjoys art and good books,” explains Sérgio Viana, one of the firm’s partners. In order to make the space free to move around, the only loose furniture is a counter and two stools. There, the resident prepares drinks, receives friends and watches movies and shows on the ‘video wall’, installed on the wall opposite the counter. With the rest of the space unoccupied, the New Fluence , from Renault, can be parked in different positions. But in any of them, the diffuse lighting with LED strips – obtained by means of a canvas covering the entire ceiling – guarantees the necessary brightness for the activities that take place in the garage.
In the background, on the concrete wall, two niches lined with black glass are used to accommodate art objects and books. Note that the monolithic cement floor has no joints, following the same style obtained with the canvas on the ceiling.
Thanks to its bold design, the counter goes beyond its function and also serves as a sculpture. The wooden structure of the piece has been finished with a bright yellow lacquer. Behind the piece, the resident displays photographs of art found in galleries and on his travels.
Alternatively, instead of being parked between the counter and the video wall, the New Fluence is also parked next to the wall covered in teka wood mosaic, with an ebonized finish.
