Café Experiência environment, at
CASACOR São Paulo 2017 , was designed by Marília Pellegrini and came from the idea of celebrating Brazilian coffee, the product that is so present in the life and history of the country. The walls were made of rammed earth, a method which is a reference to the constructions of the
Coffee Cycle , from the time when this was the main engine of the Brazilian economy (1800-1930). The structural walls were piled on site in a long but completely artisanal construction process in which each layer had a different earth tone. One of them was filled with coffee beans.
"The rammed earth is a big surprise, because you put the form in, fill it with earth and pile it up layer by layer. You only see the result when you remove the form. I think it was a very good choice to bring in this strong reference to constructions." from that time", explains Marília.
Large side openings allow natural light and cross ventilation and are framed by large iron gates with a coffee bean design inspired by the original architecture of the Jockey Club of São Paulo. The idea of the Experience was to create a space where people could talk , spend time and try specialty coffees, different beans from Brazil. The informality of the counter, centered in the middle of the space, reinforces the casualness desired by Marília. The stools are designed by Gustavo Bittencourt and harmonize with the décor. The large
light fixture above the counter was designed by the professional. The aluminum structure, with electrostatic painting black, it is hollow, as if it were several interspersed picture frames, to frame the adobe wall. The lamps are carbon filament.
