CASACOR SP: A geometric, plastic, functional and sustainable bar

For the first time at CASACOR São Paulo , architect Marcos Caracho is presenting a plastic and functional project in the design of the Bar do Jardim . With a contemporary character, the space also proposes a new look at the architecture of the place, the Jockey Club of São Paulo.

In 200 m², the architect presented creative solutions for the functional needs of the Bar . The use of purist geometry and industrial technology were the main aspects that guided the design of the space.

The creation of metal sheet porticos, for example, reducing the height of the ceiling in the waiting areas, was one of the architectural resources applied. “This solution brought horizontality to the bar. On the other hand, the original height of the building was maintained, using a rope curtain as an internal closure, which allows for a very interesting play of light and shadow”, explains the architect.

Another hallmark of the architect's work is the use of technological materials with a natural finish, such as wooden floors, folded carbon steel sheets, aluminum brise-soleil and exposed concrete bases. The choice of furniture, of Italian design in shades monochromatic, also reinforces the option for simplicity.

Paying attention to the preservation of the Jockey Club's architectural heritage, Caracho used raised reforested wood flooring, with an independent structure, protecting the integrity of the original floor. The use of auxiliary structures to fix the proposed closures and coverings made it possible to avoid perforations and possible damage to existing elements, such as slabs, pillars and even the building's original tiles.

Sustainability is evident in the conscious use of materials (certified reforested wood, water-based varnishes and finishers), in the use of natural light, with control and filtering through blinds, and in the use of elements that are easy to disassemble and reused after the end of the exhibition.
