Recognized for her commitment and concern for the environment and the well-being of the planet, architect Mariana Crego designed the
Sustainable House at
CASACOR São Paulo this year, a 63 m² space that meets all 14 categories of the
AQUA-HQE certification , a seal of excellence. sustainability issued by the Vanzolini Foundation, the first and main civil construction certifier in Brazil, and Cerway, a French certification body, with consultancy from Inovatech.
The idea for the space came about after a trip the professional took to Thailand. The local culture caught her attention, both for its spirituality and for the contact with nature and attention to detail. The architect then wanted to use the space to discuss the importance of concern for the chemical process of materials – where they came from, how they were extracted and where they go.
After this step, Mariana created a glass space to bring nature from the outside into the interior, promoting an immersion in the countryside. The glass strip divides the bedroom module from the living room, creating volume in the architecture and showing that housing can be modular: the bedroom can be detached and the project expanded, for example.
Another concern was the choice of companies committed to the environment, which have a destination for construction waste, reusing as much as possible, in addition to raising awareness among the entire team involved in the project, from those who extracted the raw material to those who that will inhabit the space.
