CASACOR SP 2017: a Living Bar with a cosmopolitan identity

The Living Bar is a project by Moacir Schmitt Jr. and Salvio Moraes Jr., from Studio CASAdesign, for CASACOR São Paulo 2017. A perfect environment for meetings, gatherings and parties, where the neutral, arid and earthy tones, which speak between gray and black, propose a contrast with the old architecture of the place. In 97 m2 ^, the professionals created a space that houses dining, living, bar and office. The idea was to create a living room that feels like a home, not a showroom .

“ We sought to create something real, a pleasant environment that prioritized well-being, intimate and social life. Based on our personality, we thought of a contemporary concept of living, a cool environment full of personal references, art, photography and fashion, with different textures ”, explains Moacir Schmitt Jr.

One of the highlights of the project is the carpentry. All the walls are covered with natural wood veneer. The seven-meter bar is entirely filleted and was assembled by hand. Its back is covered with checkered glass, as is the large bookcase that displays souvenirs from trips, books, art and decorative objects.

All the pieces were carefully designed to create the project's cosmopolitan and urban identity. Among the national products, the original Chifruda armchair by Sérgio Rodrigues stands out, as well as pieces by other icons such as Jader Almeida. The Cité armchairs and the Standard chair are designed by Jean Prouvé, and the 401 armchair is by the renowned Alvar Aalto. The final touch is provided by the contrast between works of Brazilian modern art and those of popular culture from the Northeast.
