The Barista Library at CASA COR São Paulo 2016 was designed by architect Olegário de Sá and interior designer Gilberto Cioni, who were inspired by coffee to create the concept for the space. “We created an intimate and typically masculine atmosphere by playing with the juxtaposition of intense colors over shades of gray. Designed for a cosmopolitan citizen, this project could be found in metropolises such as São Paulo, Milan or New York,” explains Olegário.
The inspiration for the coffee comes from the idea that the drink encourages meetings, conversation and fun, and the space brings this experimentation where the host can comfortably welcome friends and family to make tasting the drink a unique moment.
Important pieces made with copper and gilded metal lend sophistication to the decor, as does the generous rug (Punto e Filo).
The environment is marked by the gray color on the coated walls and also features wooden logs (firewood) that form a strip from floor to ceiling, bringing authenticity and boldness to the project.
Set into the main masonry wall, the washed freijó cubes (Almudena Marcenaria) with alternating arrangements and sizes organize books, objects and display the kettles and coffee machines (De'Longhi), ready to serve drinks to visitors throughout the exhibition. “Far apart and illuminated by LEDs, the boxes appear to be detached from the wall.”
The designer pieces give the space a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Orange English velvet armchairs designed by Sergio Rodrigues (Dpot) and the large wooden table designed by Jader Almeida are some of them. “Classic pieces mixed with modern ones help to create the sophisticated decor,” says Olegário.
A linear fireplace from Construflama, 4 m long, not only heats the space but also looks like a sculpture and adds charm. The front of it is covered with European wallpaper from the Le Corbusier (Orlean) collection, which invites visitors to touch it with their hands. HOUSE COLOR SERVICE SAO PAULO 2016
