Memory Box rescues emotional references at CASACOR Brasília 2018

For the second time at CASACOR Brasília , architects Clarissa Braga and Manuella Leite, from the Esquina Arquitetura office, designed the Caixa de Memórias environment, a concept of space that moves between affective memory and open work. The project was designed so that the visitor can experience visual stimuli and interact. Comprising a dining room and a living room, the spaces feature contemporary furniture that recalls features of old pieces found in the homes of the architects' parents and grandparents. Childhood references incorporate the themeof The Living House , showing the identity of those who live in the house. The furniture also recalls the history of Brazilian design with pieces by Bruno Facuz inspired by Joaquim Tenreiro, and the authorial design of Pedro Franco. The indirect lighting from wall lights and chandeliers allows for open spaces, which hark back to the first modernist residences. The palette of bright colors , combined with the original parquet floor, represents the Brazilian living style. Memory is also represented through an installation made up of boxes and trunks. “The idea is to pique visitors’ curiosity and thereby revive memories and sensations that refer to a past in which they recognize themselves,” the professionals explain.
