Before hosting the CASACOR Minas Gerais 2018 Ticket Office and Store , this space, designed by Ana Vaz and Alexandre Rousset, was created with the commitment to bring visitors to the show a record of the history that, for years, the mansion housed as its headquarters. of the Federal Railway Network. The task of identifying, within the Network's rich collection, which elements would fulfill this role of testimony in this context was, at the same time, a delight and an exercise in detachment. In keeping with the function of the place, a delicate collection was brought of tickets for the numerous routes traveled by passengers who crossed the country by train.
The absolute protagonist of the space is a gallery of clocks. They are stored in noble wooden boxes, characters from other journeys, lined up in an insistent rhythm, transmitting the message that "time does not stop". In the center of the hall, floating in a hand-woven weave of pure silk straw, kilos and kilos of coal drive the desire of this building to remain alive in the time to come.
This environment, built from the perspective of scenography, seems to accept no furniture, other than the Terrão benches by Domingos Tótora ― sculptures molded by hand from recycled Kraft paper and dyed with natural earth pigment.
The concept ofA Casa Viva , proposed for this edition of CASACOR , extends here to the territory of memory. Insisting on being in this Mansion, persisting in preserving it, continuing to defend its history, sharing its space with other desires is to understand - it is alive, vibrant, a protagonist of itself and a character in the city!
