Geometric applications cover floors and walls at CASACOR 2019
Checkered, circular and irregular patterns appear with different motivations in nine exhibition spaces

The 33 m² space in coral tones is intended for business purposes and features corporate, modular and flexible furniture.

Marilia Zimmerman used the architecture of the historic building that houses the exhibition in Rio Grande do Sul to design the Tri Suave Lavabo. The palette also follows a pastel tone, featuring the favorite colors of the year. The floor draws different bands in the room with small porcelain pieces in six shades, from the JoyMz collection designed by the architect.

Also in Rio Grande do Sul, Guilherme Lopes designed the Bureau Hopman with straight lines and sober tones. The comfortable furniture is integrated into three spaces. Highlights include the designer rug and the suspended fireplace.

Valéria Junqueira had the help of artist Alexandre Mancini to create the geometric panel in the Public Bathrooms. A tile artist and disciple of Athos Bulcão, Mancini pays homage to Brazilian modernism on the wall. The floor and other walls were neutralized with cement coverings. Soapstone, a common feature in Minas Gerais, appears on the countertops that support Jader Almeida's sinks. The designer also designed the benches in the room.

A characteristic Bolivian color scheme runs through the CASACOR Market, by Carlos X. Araùz and Fernando Justiniano. The checkered floor is reminiscent of vibrant Turkish bazaars or Moroccan markets and ensures a maximalist tone in the different combinations and details. Many of the materials used are recycled and are combined with wood carvings, stone, marble, fabrics and copper wires.

Also in Bolivia, the Atelier de La Artista by Ariela Hossen, Ma. Pia Hossen and Verônica de Hossen surprises the eye with the life that emanates from the ground. The irregularity of the patterns comes into agreement with the other surfaces, which contribute to the production of art. The lightness is in the lines of the furniture that organizes and displays the work material.

The emphasis given to the floor in Peru receives a different intonation. At El Descanso del Héroe, an environment designed by Virginia Angell, the inspiration is neoclassical. The environment pays homage to the creator of the Puericultorio building, Augusto Pérez Araníbar. The professional respected the pre-existing elements and let the furniture rest in the space, as if it had always been there.

In Ribeirão Preto, Isabela Montans also chose neutral tones to apply to the floor in the chevron pattern, responsible for the contemporary tone. The Meeting Terrace is projected by light, which passes through the bamboo lining and the reused iron louvres. The green wall injects color into the space, which displays design items such as the Circle armchair, by Hans J. Wegner.

Tininha Giglio's Girl's Suite for the show in Paraná brings together everything a girl with a cheerful personality and in tune with trends wants. The 36 m² space has a patterned panel behind the bed that guides the color palette. On the floor, the herringbone pattern marks the return of the trend.

When applied well and aligned with a purpose, geometric designs help to make a design more fun, or even to revive a neoclassical inspiration – as evidenced by Virginia Angell ’s ambiance for the exhibition in Peru . Whatever their motivations, these patterns attract the eye, take center stage and make the decor much more interesting.
