9 shelving ideas present at CASACOR Rio 2015

Wood, metal or plaster. Traditional, laid-back or inventive. Shelves are essential in any home and in almost every environment. And at CASA COR Rio 2015, architects used their creativity to create functional pieces in every style you can imagine. It has a ladder-shelf, a lattice panel transformed into a bookcase, an old door that became a bookcase, in addition to those designed especially for the exhibition spaces. For Atelier 35A/Deca , Lia Siqueira created shelves made with Moa modules – also created by her for Etel – which are independent and have different dimensions, allowing for multiple compositions. Gisele Taranto designed a bookshelf for the Lab LZ by GT environment that was created by Dutch designer Joop Hout. He used demolition wood from old doors and gloss resin to paint the piece. Architects Maurício Nóbrega and Paola Ribeiro had a similar idea for their spaces: Estúdio dos Colecionadores and Living da Praia . Both took advantage of the large metallic spiral shelf present in their environments – and which would not be used by the public – to display objects.

Some architects chose national design models. Carlos Carvalho and Rodrigo Beze, for example, used the Clipe bookshelf, by Jader Almeida, at Sobrado Studio ro+ca . But the great sensation there is the arrangement of the books that appear with the spine inverted. The same resource, in fact, was used by architects Duda Porto, in a corner of their Renault Lounge ; Anna Malta and Andrea Duarte, at the Chef's Office ; and Bruno Carvalho and Camila Avelar, at Ao Ganso Azul Bar .
