Now, a new project aims to take this experience to another level: the creation of a new Copan observation deck, designed to welcome visitors in a more structured way and transform the top of the building into another important tourist attraction in the city.

The novelty is part of a movement to enhance the value of downtown São Paulo and seeks to bring residents and tourists even closer to one of the most famous landmarks of the metropolis.

The new Copan observation deck is part of a revitalization project that aims to transform the top of the building into a permanent tourist experience. In addition to the 360° panoramic view of the São Paulo capital, the space will feature five observation telescopes, an area for pocket shows, a bar, and a store with official products of the building.

The goal is to offer a more complete experience to visitors, bringing architecture, culture, and leisure together in one of São Paulo's greatest icons. The former foyer, located above Bar da Dona Onça, is also being renovated to host immersive exhibitions, events, and other cultural activities, expanding the circuit open to the public.

The first visits to the new observation deck are expected to begin in August, with tickets starting at R$ 50. The revenue from ticket sales will help fund the restoration of the north facade of the Copan, a project estimated at around R$ 60 million. In addition to ticket sales, the building's administration is seeking sponsorships and naming rights agreements to make the project self-sustaining, preventing the restoration costs from being passed on to the more than 3,500 residents of the condominium.

Few buildings represent São Paulo as well as the Copan. Conceived by Oscar Niemeyer for the celebrations of the city's 4th Centennial, the building began construction in the 1950s and was inaugurated in 1966. Standing approximately 115 meters tall, with more than 1,100 apartments distributed across six blocks and dozens of shops and restaurants on the ground floor, the Copan is considered one of the largest reinforced concrete residential structures in the country.

More than six decades later, the Copan is entering a new phase by adopting the positioning "Square meters like no other", developed in partnership with the Felina agency. The proposal aims to show that the building goes far beyond its square footage: it represents a space of coexistence, diversity, and cultural exchange, bringing together residents, merchants, workers, and tourists in the same address.

The new visual identity was also inspired by the duality between the rigidity of concrete and the lightness of Niemeyer's curves, reinforcing the unique character of the development.

More tourism downtown

The new observation deck is part of a broader project that aims to consolidate the Copan as a hub for tourism, culture, and experiences. In addition to the panoramic terrace, spaces such as the foyer, the gallery, and the building's traditional internal street will become part of a circuit designed to host events, exhibitions, brand activations, and cultural interventions.

As part of this repositioning, Copan also begins to operate as a communication and experiences platform. A network of screens and other media points has been installed in strategic areas, allowing companies to carry out campaigns and actions in the building without losing its historical identity.
