Artworks, prints and colorful woodwork set the tone for this house

An architecture that reveals itself little by little and uses the landscape as its frame. Located in São Conrado, Rio de Janeiro, this residence designed by the Capuri Arquitetura firm – part of the CASACOR Rio de Janeiro lineup – establishes a direct and fluid dialogue with Pedra da Gávea and the Gávea Golf course.

To highlight the natural surroundings, the project was organized into three independent blocks: a recessed central volume with a double-height ceiling and two lateral ones arranged at different angles, which gradually deliver the view to those walking through the projects.

On the façade facing the street, the priority was to preserve the resident's privacy. The front volume acts as a discreet filter, with openings controlled by adjustable louvers and a large trellis that protects the main entrance.

In contrast, the opposite façade opens entirely to the greenery, bringing balconies at different levels that work as extensions of the living areas, mediated by elements that modulate the relationship between interior and exterior. "Despite valuing privacy, the resident has always enjoyed hosting visitors and wanted a house that would always be ready for that," explains architect Lulu Moura Buffara.

Inside the house, the alternation between contraction and expansion structures the sensory experience. The lower entrance hall leads to the library — the heart of the house — where the space widens. In this project, the ceiling rises and tilts toward the large window, framing the view and articulating with the shelves and the stairs that lead to the more private upper floor.

The choice of materials takes into account the integration of the construction with nature, making extensive use of wood and earthy tones. While the architecture focuses on space, light and framing, the decoration is quite specific due to the furniture and the artworks, part of the resident's collection.
