A house that already overflowed with natural light and spaciousness, but lacked identity and fluidity. This was the starting point for architect Bárbara Dundes – from the CASACOR São Paulo lineup – in the interior renovation of this residence in Jardim Guedala, São Paulo. The main challenge was to create a dynamic and welcoming retreat for a couple with children who love the routine of cooking, hosting friends, and experiencing home intensely on a daily basis.

As a guiding thread, the professional drew on the Asian ancestry of one of the residents. However, instead of taking obvious paths, Japanese culture emerges in a subtle, almost poetic way: in the appreciation of the natural, in the beauty of the imperfect, and in the pursuit of an atmosphere of slowing down through contemporary solutions.

"The idea was to bring this sensitivity and natural touch into the house, building an atmosphere where everything converses: materials, colors, and textures", points out Bárbara Dundes.

The major transformation of the renovation focused on the social wing, where the former division of rooms gave way to a total connection between the kitchen, the pantry, and the gourmet space. To solve the desire for a TV in the pantry without compromising the elegance of the projects, the architect designed a china cabinet with mimicked doors that hides the electronic device when it's not in use.

The choice of materials reinforces the tactile sophistication of the project: the walls received velvet paint, which gives a smoky and welcoming effect to the surfaces. Light tones of wood evoke Asian aesthetics, wrapping the spaces along with the linen and cotton of the fabrics. As for the natural stones, the imposing Avalanche quartzite steals the show on the kitchen countertop, while the Verde Guatemala marble brings depth and freshness to the pantry.

The gourmet spacewas expanded and equipped with a parrilla grill and pizza oven, opening directly onto the backyard and the original pool — preserved to keep alive the open area where the children enjoy their childhood. In the living room, the pre-existing fireplace was maintained and reinterpreted with a new natural stone cladding, creating the perfect setting for the family piano.

Going up half a level, the TV room stands out for the maximum coziness provided by the sloped ceiling entirely clad in wood. In the private area, while the master suite follows a neutral and enveloping palette to induce relaxation, the children's bedrooms overflow with personality.
