Conceived as a true exercise in synthesis, Casa Bahia translates the pursuit of essentiality in every line. Designed by architect Patricia Martinez, head of the Patricia Martinez Arquitetura office and part of the CASACOR São Paulo lineup, the summer residence was created to be her personal refuge and to express, in concrete form, her own vision of living. "I wanted the house to represent me as an architect in every sphere, in all my care. From the architecture with good proportions to the details at the smallest scale, everything was conceived in a very personal way," she comments.

The spatial organization of the 263 sqm house starts from a square base of biriba wood, responsible for structuring the ground floor with solidity and visual permeability. On this level, the social area integrates fluidly with the exterior through a continuous deck and a pool of national travertine marble, elements that extend the living area toward the landscape and face the view of a native environmental reserve.

The burnished cement floor reinforces the sense of continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces, while the warmth of the wood envelops the space with a welcoming feel.

The choice of materials plays a central role in this architectural narrative. The facade combines wooden frames with a peroba structure and roofing with tiles of the same material, creating an aesthetic unity consistent with the Bahian biome.

To address the challenges of the tropical climate, transparent sliding panels act as functional brises, allowing control of natural light and generating pleasant shaded zones in the living areas. On the ground floor, the functional layout houses the kitchen, powder room, laundry and an accessible bedroom.

Over this earthy, integrated base, a white volume of clean, well-defined geometry forms the second floor, recovering the most essential design of the archetypal house. The upper level concentrates the private area, composed of two suites, and culminates in a rooftop designed for moments of pause and contemplation — an ideal refuge to watch the sunset, read or enjoy an outdoor film.

On the upper floor, the rustic cumaru flooring introduces a warm and light texture, establishing a subtle and elegant contrast with the ground floor.

The project's sensitivity is also expressed in the art curation, personally signed by Patricia Martinez. Right at the entrance, a work by Deco Adjiman (from Galeria Luis Maluf), composed of bottled poems and messages, proposes the first emotional connection with the residence.

On the way to the powder room, two interconnected japamalas take on a sculptural presence, while the living room features the work Intervalo de luz entre dois mistérios, by Ivan Grilo, which invites reflection on the cycles of life. The natural texture is reaffirmed in the sisal panel by Oiamo, tying the art to the materiality of the architecture.
