Designed by PN+ | Paula Neder (from the CASACOR Rio de Janeiro lineup), this 147 sqm apartment in Leblon, RJ, underwent a complete overhaul to welcome a young family with a small daughter and a little dog. In search of a definitive home, the couple found the perfect opportunity in the building where they had always dreamed of living. The property, however, retained its original layout divided into four bedrooms and featured dated finishes, with carpets, old wallpaper and obsolete installations. The intervention promoted a total renovation of the infrastructure and redistributed the spaces with a focus on integration, functionality and use of natural light.

The restructuring of the floor plan prioritized the spaciousness of the social area. An office initially planned was eliminated during the process to make room for the expansion of the living room, creating space for a more fluid and integrated routine. A custom-made island-style sofa organizes the living room into two distinct areas.

The TV area highlights a wall clad in moledo stone, meeting the residents' desire to bring raw texture into the interior. Next to the bookshelf kept in the project, a round table makes up a small workstation with a direct view of the shore, also allowing interaction with those in the social area.

The kitchen, designed in an L-shape to optimize the compact footage, features functional cabinetry solutions, a generous countertop, narrower cabinets for the pantry, a china cabinet and space for quick meals. Panels and sliding doors allow integrating the room with the dining room or isolating it from the private area as needed.

A special element preserved from the property's history took on a new meaning: the old wooden entrance door was restored and transformed into an artistic panel on the dining room wall, keeping the memory of the original building alive.

The proximity to the beach influenced the choice of materials with natural textures and neutral tones, establishing a light and welcoming aesthetic. The stuccoed travertine marble floor covers the entire social area, promoting visual continuity.

In the private area, the original wooden parquet tiles were rediscovered beneath the old carpet and duly restored. All of the cabinetry designed by the studio received a natural freijó veneer finish, bringing warmth to the off-white chromatic base. The sobriety of the finishes is punctuated by strategic colors in the striped rug, in the paintings, and in the decorative objects arranged on the shelves.

The private area was organized to accommodate the couple's suite with a closet, the daughter's suite, and a complete guest room for welcoming family. In the master bedroom, the presence of mirrors together with the vanity was the solution found to visually enlarge the compact room, accommodate the large number of wardrobes, and reflect the ocean landscape.

In the daughter's room, the enclosed balcony was integrated into the space to house the play area and the main cabinetry, freeing up interior space and preparing the bedroom to grow with the child.
