The search for belonging and the welcoming atmosphere typical of traditional homes guided the complete renovation of the Tupi Apartment, located in the Horto Florestal neighborhood in Salvador. Designed by architects Anna Fernandes, Guido Ramos and Marcelo Bezerril, from the GAM Arquitetos studio (and part of the CASACOR Bahia lineup), the property was completely reconfigured to suit the lifestyle of a family of doctors with two school-age children.

The starting point was to transform the spatial dynamics into a practical, quiet refuge, well lit by natural light, capable of efficiently accommodating the routine of studying, working and recording classes, without giving up the pleasure of hosting friends in a relaxed way.

To achieve the desired atmosphere, the restructuring prioritized the integration of the social projects, connecting the living room, balcony and kitchen in a way that favors cross ventilation and circulation. The complete update of the electrical and hydraulic installations guaranteed the necessary infrastructure for the new lighting design and distribution of the spaces.

One of the main challenges of the project was to harmonize signature furniture pieces from different eras while maintaining aesthetic cohesion. The solution found by the professionals was to create a neutral and welcoming base, combining a palette of soft tones with genuinely Brazilian materials, such as wood, straw and cane webbing, which bring texture and reinforce the affective narrative of the interior architecture.

The living room acts as the heart of the apartment, where the past and present of national design coexist in perfect harmony. In this space, the emblematic Jangada armchair (1960), by Jean Gillon, shares the scene with the Água coffee table (2008), a creation by Domingos Tótora that stands out for its strong sustainability concept by using recycled cardboard as raw material.

The wooden flooring blends into the millwork, creating visual continuity, while the contemporary dining table ensures fluidity and lightness to the ensemble. Integration with the kitchen occurs through a cane-webbing pocket door, a functional and poetic element that allows the service area to be isolated or kept open for social interaction, providing flexibility and tactile transparency.

The essence of calm and timelessness extends to the private area. In the couple's suite, conceived under a minimalist and cozy concept, the spotlight falls on the celebrated Mole armchair, designed by Sérgio Rodrigues, reinforcing the invitation to rest and to linger.
