JAPAN HOUSE São Paulo will host the exhibition
SUBTLE - subtleties in paper . Curated and art directed by designer Kenya Hara, the exhibition bears the hallmarks of Japanese minimalism. Familiar and accessible, it presents innovative creations with the material that awaken the senses, through multiple and sophisticated design and technology experiences.

SUBTLE is a revival of the exhibition shown at the Takeo Paper Show in Japan, which has already been to Taipei and Milan and will also tour London and Los Angeles. The works invite the viewer to pay close attention to each detail, revealing what is not obvious at first glance. The items are subtle, delicate and light, such as
washi, a Japanese paper considered a treasure, handcrafted using traditional techniques.

The exhibition, housed on the second floor of the cultural center, presents 27 creations that rescue and deepen the meaning of paper by highlighting its diversity of textures, colors, techniques and applications. The pieces were divided into four themes: the first -
SUBTLE: CREATION - is dedicated to creations conceived by those who deeply understand the potential and particularities of the material, who expressed their ideas in a unique and absolutely subtle way. Among them are architects, designers, artists and art and animation directors.

The second –
SUBTLE: COLLECTION – reveals a collection with examples that invite the visitor to explore their own experiences and memories related to paper, such as lace, folding and envelopes.

The third –
PAPER: A PORTRAIT – is an exhibition by photographer Yoshihiko Ueda who, through his gaze, translates the Japanese passion for the material, recording it with nothing more than the play of light and subtle textures and folds. Lastly –
SPECIAL PAPERS – presents the continuous technological development of paper through works created by the architecture firm
