Between October 15 and 18, the city of Tiradentes, Minas Gerais, hosts a program that takes over streets, museums, churches, mansions and cultural spaces of the historic Minas Gerais town. In its 10th edition, the Tiradentes Creative Week brings together art, design, architecture, crafts, gastronomy and other expressions of Brazilian culture in different parts of the municipality.

This year, the itinerary passes through venues such as the Yves Alves Cultural Center, Casa Criativa, Casa D'Preto, the Sant'Ana Museum, Villa da Matriz, Espaço Raízes and squares of the historic center. The proposal is to have visitors move around the city while taking in exhibitions, installations, lectures, workshops and other experiences.

Below, we have gathered the exhibitions and installations that make up the circuit of this edition of the Tiradentes Creative Week.

Exhibitions and installations to include in the itinerary

Everyday treasure — Yves Alves Cultural Center

The show brings together pieces developed over the 10 years of the Tiradentes Creative Week through the collaboration between designers and artisans. The selection helps tell the festival's trajectory through techniques, materials and ways of making that bring together tradition and contemporary creation.

Handmade design — Yves Alves Cultural Center

The exhibition presents works developed throughout 2026 by designers and artisans participating in the Creative Week project. Among the names involved are Bruno Niz, Luciana Pires and Paulo Biacchi, in partnership with knifemaker Bruno Timochenco, the Ceramistas do Elvas, the Construindo Sonhos collective and sculptor Michael Ferreira.

Grace — São João Evangelista Church

Honoree of this edition, Tiradentes-born artist Vinicius Rosa Rios presents a body of work linked to the universe of ex-votos. The pieces draw from these objects associated with popular religiosity and the tradition of giving thanks for graces received.

Brazilian inventory — Sobrado Aimorés

The exhibition brings together works by 27 designers who have been part of the history of the Tiradentes Creative Week. The group brings together different generations, trajectories and languages and forms an overview of the diversity of contemporary Brazilian design.

Botanical amalgam: my patchwork quilt — Casa Criativa

Designer Zé Arns transforms wood scraps accumulated over ten years of work into new pieces. Through marquetry, different species, textures and fragments take on another function and come to compose objects made from materials that would otherwise be discarded.

As long as there's a fool — Casa Criativa

The mask-making tradition of Porto de Pedras, in Alagoas, arrives in Tiradentes in an exhibition that places original masks by Mestre Gilberto side by side with new pieces produced by the Bobo Gaiato collective. The encounter highlights the continuity of popular knowledge passed down between generations.

Lung of waste — City Council

Created by Flávia Duarte and Manuela Rodrigues, with the collaboration of Murilo Weitz and textile execution by the Tekoá Collective, the installation uses discarded plastic bags transformed into crochet threads and weaves. The work brings handmade practice closer to a reflection on consumption and waste.

In the folds of color — Largo das Mercês

Marcos Scorzelli works with creased and cut steel sheets to create three-dimensional sculptures. Geometric shapes, volume and vibrant colors combine in pieces that occupy the public space.

Territory of Affections — Espaço Terra

The show brings together paintings, drawings, ceramics, objects and experiments by Beth Cavalcanti, an artist who lived and worked in Tiradentes and was part of the city's cultural scene from the 1990s onward. Held after her death in 2025, the exhibition presents part of a collection previously preserved by family members and close friends.

Crack — Taberna D'Omar

Biti Averbach and Helena Leão present photographs and objects arranged as still lifes. The proposal starts from memory and time to create a counterpoint to the speed of digital images and invites the public to look with greater attention.

Sculpture Garden — Villa da Matriz

Seven large-scale sculptures by Marco Ajeje occupy the garden of Villa da Matriz. Built in iron, the works explore geometric shapes, overlays and an apparent instability, creating a contrast between the solidity of the material and the balance of the compositions.

Casa D'Preto brings together art, architecture and ancestry

One of the debuts of this edition, Casa D'Pretooccupies the Sobrado Ramalho, headquarters of IPHAN, and also functions as its own exhibition hub.

Among the shows is Orí-gem, a group exhibition that brings together works by 18 artists created in languages such as painting, sculpture, photography, woodcut, casting, handcrafts, design and digital collage. The exhibition is organized around four axes: Knowledge, Technique, Body and Territory.

The space also presents 'Ewés, makaia and jinsaba: the living-circuit of Afro-Minas landscapes', by Tainã Dorea, dedicated to the relationship between landscape, Afro-diasporic culture, backyards, terreiros and traditional knowledge.

Alexandre Salles also signs two interventions: 'The Terreiro', which transforms the backyard into a space for meeting and the circulation of knowledge, and 'The Altar. Permission to enter', an installation that works with memory, ancestry, faith and belonging.

Art and architecture also occupy Villa da Matriz

The Villa da Matriz concentrates different spaces and exhibitions throughout the festival.

At Casa Coral, 'Manus', the gesture between hand and tool turns its gaze to the work of the painter and to the mastery of instruments, paints, surfaces and techniques that are part of the process of transforming spaces.

The same address hosts 'Matéria Brasileira', curated by Galeria Brasileirinho and Pedro Coimbra, bringing together works by contemporary Brazilian artists.

The exhibition 'OHTAKE', curated by Rodrigo Ohtake, presents more than six decades of experimentation in architecture and design through models and panels. The route puts different scales, languages, materialities and projects in dialogue.

Lectures, workshops and talks complete the program

In addition to the exhibitions, the Semana Criativa de Tiradentes brings together dozens of activities during the four days, including lectures, talks, workshops, cinema, performances, processions and guided tours.

Architecture, design, heritage, sustainability, handcrafts, cities, Brazilian culture, technology and new ways of living are among the themes present in the program. There are also workshops linked to manual techniques, such as wood and soapstone carving, weaving, embroidery, ceramics, jewelry and lacework.

The activities take place in venues such as the Centro Cultural Yves Alves, Casa Criativa, Espaço Raízes, Casa D'Preto and MARTIR, as well as other addresses spread across the historic center.

Admission to the festival spaces is free, but some lectures and talks require prior registration. Some workshops are paid and have a limited number of participants, so it is worth checking the program before planning your itinerary.
