Journalist, documentary filmmaker and photographer, Rio native Rafael Duarte presents, through his unique perspective, a new perspective of the already familiar landscapes of Rio de Janeiro. Proof of this is the collection of photos that the professional has put together in his latest book RIO , for an exhibition at Cinza Galeria.

Opening on April 2, the exhibition will feature 13 iconic photos, with landscapes such as the hang-gliding ramp with Dois Irmãos and São Conrado hills in the background – photographed from the stands under the Pedra Bonita ramp –, the lawn and stands of Maracanã with Christ the Redeemer in the background – taken from the stadium's spotlight walkway –, cable car support pulleys with Sugarloaf Mountain in the background – photo taken from the maintenance basket at the top of the cable car –, among other beautiful images that show a new angle of the city.

The book RIO , released this year, reveals another city in Rio de Janeiro. The work presents a series of images that reveal new perspectives on familiar landscapes. As an admirer of the place where he was born and raised, Rafael has always sought to establish a generous view of the capital of Rio de Janeiro with its artistic expression. The objective was to reveal the delicacy and strength that lie in the synergy between the natural and the urban, the result of this long immersion in the territory of Rio. And it will be these new angles of the Marvelous City that will be in the exhibition.

The book has 200 pages and black and white photographs, published by Editora Bambalaio. The publication is an invitation for the reader to take a trip through Rio throughout the four chapters that represent cuts of the city's regions.
On photographer Rafael Duarte's Instagram, an Instaseries is available, bringing together in the form of themed episodes some of the videos created for the photography project of the book RIO. There are 10 episodes, one minute each, that tell the behind-the-scenes story of the photographer's creative process, which was extreme importance for the final result of the project.
