SP-Arte 2018 took place last week, between April 12th and 15th. The 14th edition of the event featured a section dedicated to long-term performances, a section focused on design and the now traditional participation of national and international galleries. international. The design section, launched in 2016, is dedicated to the history of design in Brazil and abroad. With the aim of highlighting furniture, lighting and antiques, great names in classic design have caught the public's attention. Check out some of them below. Campana Brothers Firma Casa presented a collection of pieces produced by Fernando and Humberto Campana. The brothers, born in the interior of São Paulo, entered the design market in 1989, with the creation of Estúdio Campana. Fernando and Humberto, graduated in architecture and law, respectively, they like to reuse materials in their pieces and are a reference in the world of design. During SP-Arte 2018 , the pieces exhibited were: the Bolotas Armchair, from 2016; the Shark Armchair, from 2000; the Leatherworks Armchair, from 2007; the Harumaki Bench, from 2007 and the AZUL Armchair, from 1998. Paulo Werneck Etel brought together pieces by
renowned names in design and architecture. Among them, it presented two projects by Paulo Werneck. The painter was responsible for introducing the mosaic technique in Brazil. He worked with great names in architecture, such as Oscar Niemeyer, the Roberto brothers , Marcelo Campelo, among others. Werneck was a major contributor to Modernism, and created more than 300 panels for buildings and residences in the country. The Etel stand presented the Oscar Screen and the Boa Vista Bank Project. Atelier Hugo França has brought several pieces by the designer. Born in Porto Alegre, Hugo moved to Bahia to live a life closer to nature, and it is this connection with the environment that is evident in his work. His pieces have a dialogue creative with the tree: everything begins and ends with it. Hugo is very concerned about wood waste, especially the species discarded by traditional furniture makers, and believes in the reuse of this material. Lina Bo Bardi Also represented by Etel , one of the leading Brazilian architects, Lina Bo Bardi, had her work exhibited at SP-Arte . Responsible for designing important buildings, such as MASP, Sesc Pompeia, Teatro Oficina, among others, Lina dedicated herself to architecture , scenography, visual arts, furniture designs and graphic design. The architect designed her own home, the Glass House, located in Morumbi, a famous neighborhood in São Paulo. The LBB Tea Cart was part of Etel's exhibition. Salvador Dali Micasa ,
a newcomer to the show, combines design, architecture and contemporary art in its space. They exhibited the Leda Chair, by Salvador Dalí, made in 1935. The Catalan painter is recognized worldwide for his surrealist work. Dalí combined non-traditional images with a technique similar to that of Renaissance artists, which he learned at the academy.
