On December 15, visitors to MASP will be able to take a 360º virtual tour of the National Museum's rooms thanks to Google Street View technology

On December 15, MASP, in São Paulo, will offer a unique opportunity for those who wish to learn a little more about the National Museum. During the morning and afternoon, visitors will be able to take a virtual tour of the rooms of the Rio museum thanks to to images captured with Google Street View technology, with narration in three languages: Portuguese, English and Spanish. 
With three totems and cardboards , it is possible to take a final 360º tour of the historic building. The National Museum of Rio de Janeiro was the oldest scientific institution in Brazil, founded on June 6, 1818 by D. João VI. The palace housed the family Portuguese royal palace and hosted the first Republican Constituent Assembly. 
Unfortunately, on September 3, 2018, the structure caught fire, due to years of neglect, and its precious collection of 20 million items – which included the largest Egyptian collection in Latin America, the largest natural science library in Brazil, in addition to the oldest human fossil in the Americas – was lost. MASP's initiative is a chance to revisit all these treasures, albeit through technology.
