American artist Patrick Dougherty is a nature enthusiast. Born in Oklahoma in 1945, he combined his carpentry skills with primitive construction techniques to create true artistic experiences with saplings, vines and branches.
Over the past thirty years, Dougherty has created over 250 sculptures and his work has won numerous awards including: 2011 Factor Prize for Southern Art, North Carolina Artist Fellowship Award, Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, Henry Moore Foundation Fellowship, Japan-US Creative Arts Fellowship , and National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship.
