Miami Art Basel 2017 opened its doors to the public on December 7. Approximately 200 art galleries are exhibiting more than 4,000 pieces of modern and contemporary art. Art Basel shakes up the art market, bringing in thousands of collectors and enthusiasts from all over the world. Originating in the city of the same name in Switzerland in the 1970s, the Miami edition has been held annually since 2002 and the parallel events that take place in the city simultaneously make up Miami Art Week .

Miami Art Basel 's main gallery, the Miami Beach Convention Center, is located on the oceanfront and offers more than 22,000 square meters of exhibition space.
