London Design Festival announces 2017 installations

The 15th edition of the London Design Festival takes place across the city from 16 to 24 September 2017. Event organisers announced the installation programme during a press conference at the V&A this morning (18), highlighting that textile designer Camille Walala will create the Landmark Project , the festival’s largest installation. The Walala project, called Villa Walala , will be installed in Broadgate - an area flanked by office and tower blocks. Described by the festival as a "building block castle", the installation will be typical of the designer's bold and colourful style, and will be composed of giant, soft shapes, each with a digital design.

Among them is Ross Lovegrove ’s Transmission installation, which will be erected in the museum’s Tapestry Gallery and draws on the designer’s surrounding works. Made in collaboration with Alcantara, an Italian company that manufactures faux suede, the designer created an undulating structure that is – unlike most of the V&A’s works – designed to welcome public interaction.
