Design Weekend 2017 , in São Paulo, the brand launches a collective exhibition with four artists, who, through their art, translate and interpret the evolution of the company over the course of of these years. With the aim of
representing the Alchemy of processes and their relationship with the art of weaving, by Kamy promotes, between August 8th and 13th, the Alquimia exhibition, at the Maison store, located at Alameda Gabriel Monteiro da Silva. The exhibition is curated by architect and textile designer Francesca Alzati and brings together Patricia Kattan, Le Cheng, Walter Goldfarb and Marcelo Borges. on the transformation that leads to a new desire and the symbolism of the 'Endless Knot' in its broad interpretations. Polish-Brazilian artist Walter Goldfarb created pieces that go beyond the concept of art, materializing fragments, documents and the identity of his work composed of lines, scraps and fractions of works that are transformed into new pieces. To unite painting and loom, the artist applies complex alchemy processes using dyed canvas, needles, threads and rhinestones, among other materials. The works produced for the exhibition show a visual composition that involves many plots, signs, colors, fragments, allegories and subjectivities in more than 20 items. The concept of the pieces encompasses a vast study and improvement of techniques developed over more than two decades, being the focus is on presenting part of this alchemy, a true textile passion that unites creativity and techniques in a common denominator between the artist and by Kamy . For the first time in Brazil, Le Cheng presents works that express his aesthetic and technical study of landscapes observed from physical or even psychic experiences. Through his drawings, which later become engravings, Lin portrays the difference between the lines and their respective contours in a meticulous manner, as well as the different ways of interpreting the landscape noted. For this year's Design Weekend , Lin brings a set of engravings and tapestries that masterfully portray the alchemy of his art. A unique opportunity to delve into in the universe of his process of observation, conception and completion of each work. Patricia Kattan brings to DW 2017 a set of works conceived to represent the Alchemy between history, culture and experiences, based on a questioning about the position of the carpet in the contemporary world. Set in the center of the house, they are receivers of memories of facts occurred, each carpet generates its own story. The introduction of noble metals such as gold, silver and copper in their works brings oriental culture closer to textile art, instigating our view of them in a process of appreciation and recognition of their representativeness and concepts of carpets today. The Uomo and Donna tables, named after Kamy and Francesca, were created by designer Marcelo Borges for Design Weekend 2017. Uomo, rectangular, and Donna, round, represent the perfect alchemy between art, design and minerals. Within his research , Marcelo noted that throughout history the table was not only an object of aesthetic value, but also an important cultural symbol. Around it, men gathered to share important, decisive and mystical moments. As part of his exploratory research for a new design, Marcelo Borges looked back to the past and the unique history of by Kamy and found his inspiration in the geometry of rugs: bringing the weave to be sculpted in marble was the challenge of the project. Marcelo exclusively designs two tables full of artisanal details that sublimate the richness of the raw material and its handling, exploring classic materials in a unique and bold way, such as the preciousness of stones in the fusion of metal, in addition to the beauty of geometric designs.
