The exhibition of the artist and Bauhaus professor Paul Klee (1879-1940) opens today at the CCBB (Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil in São Paulo). Entitled " Unstable Equilibrium ", the show features 120 works, including paintings, papers, engravings, drawings and personal objects of the artist, in a retrospective that is unprecedented in Brazil. The event, after passing through São Paulo, will move on to Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte, always with the aim of revealing the most intimate side of one of the most important names of modern art of the 20th century. 
With a unique work, which does not fit exclusively into any of the artistic avant-garde movements of the early 20th century, Paul Klee established an intense dialogue with some of the main movements of the period, such as expressionism, cubism, surrealism and constructivism, without, however, being part of of them. "We cannot fit his work into a single style or movement. His work is so vast and at the same time so complex that it is not possible to label it," reveals Fabienne Eggelhöfer, the curator of the exhibition and of the Zentrum Paul Klee, in Switzerland, museum responsible for organizing the exhibition. 
Early in his career, the painter, who also flirted with music and poetry, decided to move away from formal academic studies (Klee attended the Munich Academy in 1903) to embark on a personal pictorial research more connected to the essence of the artist. than to the appearance of things. His art sought to reveal the link between an inner being and the world that surrounds it. “Klee lost interest in the art taught in the Academies, when he realized the need for a new figuration, free from conventions and that could expand the boundaries between art and life”, says Fabienne Eggelhöfer. The line, sometimes striking and sometimes subtle in her works, was always mediated by reference to nature, but with a freer design, which unfolded in time and space. Author of several publications with famous quotes, Paul Klee was also a theorist, like his friend and neighbor Wassily Kandinsky. Several of these quotes were reproduced in the exhibition. Among them we highlight: “Art does not reproduce the visible, it makes visible ", Paul Klee. 
Paul Klee – Unstable Equilibrium covers the entire period of Klee’s artistic life, presenting rare and little-known works – a production that began in his youth, at the end of the 19th century. The exhibition is sponsored by Banco do Brasil and BB Seguros . It also has the support of Cateno. The exhibition is part of a CCBB program, which gives access to the Brazilian public, free of charge. and highly qualified, to large national and international art collections and collections. Visitors will also be able to enjoy a reproduction of the painting Angelus Novus and 15 more drawings dedicated to this theme, portrayed in text by the German philosopher Walter Benjamin.
