In homage to the career of the architect, painter, sculptor, designer, botanist, ecologist and activist for environmental causes, Burle Marx, the Brazilian Museum of Sculpture and Ecology (MuBE) opens on December 15th the exhibition

Curated by Cauê Alves, the exhibition is divided into three sections, as already stated in its title, highlighting the artist's versatile side. In total, there are around 70 works, including drawings, paintings, sculptures, tapestries, design pieces, landscape projects and records of botanical species and scientific expeditions that he carried out throughout his life.
"We want to draw attention to the most diverse attributes of Burle Marx, but without a retrospective tone. On the contrary, we bring to the public little-explored singularities of an artist with multiple capabilities. Without a doubt, landscaping was his greatest contribution to the world. , but he was much more than a great landscaper", says Alves.
Author of hundreds of landscape projects in Brazil and around the world, Burle Marx used plants, buildings, reliefs, tile panels and mosaics from the Portuguese tradition. Throughout his life, he discovered around 35 species of plants on his famous expeditions. In Brazil. "He is a character who has a very strong relationship with the field of science. He was an activist for environmental causes when this was not yet an issue for Brazilian society," he recalls.
