The
2018 Work of the Year Award , promoted by
ArchDaily Brazil , announced today the three winning projects. Unlike many competitions that exist in the world of architecture and design, this award has a jury formed 100% by the site's readers and internet users.
CASACOR is extremely happy and proud to have offices from the show's cast as winners of the award. First place went to Marcelo Rosenbaum + Aleph Zero, with the renowned
Moradas Infantis project, which adds another victory to the offices. Second place went to for the
Vila Rica House project, by BLOCO Arquitetos. The bronze medal was won by the beautiful
Instituto Moreira Salles , by Andrade Morettin Arquitetos.
The buildings house a boarding school, where 540 students study and live. In addition to its aesthetics, what stands out and differentiates the project is the active participation of its occupants, the children, teachers and school staff, in its design.
2nd place - Vila Rica House by BLOCO Architects
The project is located in a rural area 40 km away from the city center of Brasília. The design of the house was distributed in two pavilions that were positioned slightly suspended from the ground and uneven in relation to each other. The elevation of the pavilions in relation to to the land has two main reasons: to prevent small insects and wild animals from entering the house and to minimize the movement of earth during construction.
3rd place - Moreira Salles Institute by Andrade Morettin Architects
The spatiality of the museum is given and perceived, above all, from the voids of the building, which are the spaces of circulation and encounter that spread between the program volumes and the facade of the building. The materiality of the facade, resolved with a skin of double-layer translucent glass, provides a quality of light. In the same way, the light that takes over these spaces carries with it the trace of the city, bringing into the museum the memory of the world that surrounds it.
