Paulo Mendes da Rocha is awarded in Portugal

At the age of 87, Paulo Mendes da Rocha continues to create and is today one of the most renowned Brazilian architects. Awarded the Pritzker Prize (considered the Nobel Prize of architecture) in 2006, Mendes has also shared the American Gordon Bunshaft trophy. with Oscar Niemeyer (1907-2012), in 1988 and, in 2016 alone, was recognized with three important international awards: the Golden Lion (May), the Imperial Japan Prize (September) and the Royal Gold Medal, from the British Institute of Architects (Riba), in November.
