The initiative offers theoretical and practical professional training classes for women from Jardim Colombo in São Paulo

The Fazendinhando movement - a territorial regeneration project with cultural, educational and social development, made by and for the residents of Jardim Colombo, in São Paulo - has just launched the Professional Training Course for Tilers. The objective of the new initiative is to professionalize the residents from Jardim Colombo so that they can enter the construction market. 
"With the qualification through the Course, opportunities increase for women from Jardim Colombo and surrounding areas who suffer from lack of employment and very low income, a situation that has been exacerbated during the pandemic", explains Ester Carro, architect and social urban planner and leader of Fazendinhando. According to data from the Ministry of Labor, the construction industry increased the presence of women in the workforce by 50%. 
With approximately 15 thousand people, Jardim Colombo is located in the West Zone of São Paulo and stands out for its horizontal and multi-community management governance. Fazendinhando emerged at the end of 2017 with the aim of transforming a landfill into Parque Fazendinha, giving residents residents a green leisure area. In addition to the park, the initiative has been divided into the Fazendeiras project, which prepares women to work in the kitchen and construction industry, and the Fazendolar project, which seeks to connect students of architecture, engineering, design and related areas with the community.
