Sustainable materials accelerate the construction of Casa Cor Campinas headquarters

Casa Cor Campinas 2015, which will take place in October, is already in full swing with preparations. The 7th edition of the exhibition promises to be one of the most attentive to sustainability. To achieve this, the franchisees chose to build two mansions that will host the event. However, these are not just two simple properties. These are buildings built with materials that optimize time, labor and are sustainable.

The projects are designed by two pairs of architects from the city, Adriana Consulin and Izilda Moraes and Daniele Guardini and Adriana Stancati. One of the bets of both pairs of professionals is monolithic EPS panels, which replace bricks, beams and pillars and allow optimization of time and labor. What is built in a year with common materials, with EPS is built in five months and with at least half as many workers.

“The material is innovative, safe and eco-efficient, suitable for all types of buildings. Among the many benefits, the material allows the entire process to be optimized with a reduction in execution time and labor. We built 906 m² of walls in one week, with just four people. A project of this size, in a conventional construction, would be done in at least a year, but we will build it in just five months and with half the workforce”, explains one of the engineers responsible for the work, Frederico Barreto.

In addition to saving time and people, the material is compact, which makes it easier to transport and the amount of waste is very low, which contributes to preserving the environment.

“The ease extends to the transport and handling of the material, which is light and compact. Another benefit is the thermal and acoustic insulation which, in times of energy crisis, contributes to the development's value. Another characteristic refers to the number of waste and cleanliness of the work. In a conventional project we would use around 80 buckets, with this material we estimate using only two, contributing to the preservation of the environment. The electrical and hydraulic execution is also simple. It is possible to place everything before projecting the concrete, just cut the mesh, melt the Styrofoam with a heat gun, replace the mesh again and that's it”, says Civil Engineer, Marcos Zafalon.

Both headquarters promise to be integrated with nature and its exterior. In the project by the couple Adriano Stancati and Daniele Guardini, the facade takes its place. “The facade covered in stone is intimate and reserved, keeping the interior of the house completely hidden, with no openings to the street, guaranteeing the privacy of residents. In contrast, the rear façade is open and allows a wide view of the entire surroundings and total integration between the interior and exterior, where the pool and garden will be located. The distribution of environments reinforces the practicality of the house’s daily life”, explains Daniele.

The headquarters signed by Izilda Moraes and Adriana Consulin was designed to welcome and bring people together in a comfortable way. “The project was designed taking into account the use of the house by potential residents in a social and intimate way at the same time, being independent of each other. We prioritize welcoming and bringing people together, providing a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Full of comfort, technology, beauty and refinement, the house brings sophistication combined with functionality”, says Adriana.
