Lia Siqueira designs the new Hotel Janeiro, in Leblon

A new hotel has recently landed on the sands of Rio's South Zone. It's the Janeiro, which occupies the former Marina All Suites, and is arriving in Leblon with a new and contemporary concept. And the person behind this new development is Oskar Metsavaht, creative director of Osklen, which is making its debut in this new branch of luxury hospitality. The architectural project is by professional Lia Siqueira, a CASACOR cast member. She was called to transform the building into a beach hotel, with the face of Rio de Janeiro.

With 53 rooms, a restaurant, two bars and a terrace with a pool, Janeiro has fashion in its DNA. Metsavaht did a very similar job to that developed at Osklen, which combines practicality, comfort, relaxation, natural elements, art, photography and very refined. Outside of Brazil, it is common for luxury hotels to have suites designed by major brands. The St. Regis in New York, for example, has Dior, Tiffany and Bentley rooms. In Janeiro, it is no exaggeration to say that the entire concept aesthetics has Metsavaht's DNA. He designed the uniforms, bed linen, table linen and bath linen commissioned from Trousseau.

Natural straw is also a highlight in chairs, such as those in the restaurant with their unique straw seats in a shell-like shape. The bottle-shaped lamps, handmade in southern Brazil, were specially developed for the hotel. , using recycled glass. The linen domes have a freijó wood cover on top to better filter the light and create a cozy atmosphere.

In an interview with A Cor da Casa , Lia Siqueira, from the Siqueira + Azul and Felipe Siqueira office, says that the project was designed to be like a beach house. “Nature is present through the use of wood and natural materials. ,” she explains. “It was all meant to be a sunny place.”

The highlight is the spiral staircase on the balcony on the top floor, with loose floating steps and a helix shape, a reference to Brazilian modernist architecture.

In addition to its strong fashion and design footprint, the hotel is based on the ASAP concept – as sustainable as possible, as quickly as possible – a movement that demands awareness about the urgency of adopting everyday attitudes towards sustainability. Some examples of this are: the separation of organic and non-organic waste in the rooms, selective collection for all waste generated by the hotel, the replacement of plastic straws with paper ones, the hiring of refugees in the Housekeeping team and the use of biodegradable cleaning products.
