Casa Cigarra is divided into two levels with maximum contemplation of the landscape

Located on a steeply sloping plot of land, Casa Cigarra , a project designed by FGMF Arquitetos and competing for Building Of The Year 2021 , sought to minimize soil movement and maximize the contemplation of the landscape. To achieve this, it was necessary to create surfaces artificially, a notable effect especially on the roof intended for leisure and on the volume that projects with an enormous overhang towards the natural panorama.

The house is divided into two levels . The lower level houses the five suites, a family room, a laundry room and a garage, forming a dense volume where the openings are precisely carved. This stone-clad volume is half-buried in the ground, opening -to the forest.

On the upper level, which is the pedestrian access level, two light volumes of metal structure and glass rest delicately on the massive base.

The largest of them, which swings towards the treetops, houses the social spaces and the kitchen; the smaller one, in turn, hangs discreetly on the edge of the pool and contains a social space with a barbecue and a seating area. eat. Protecting the glazed volumes , corten steel blades create an irregularbrise-soleil that surrounds them and filters the sunlight.

The contrast between the three volumes announces the program: the intimate areas are more reserved, while the social areas are generously open to the landscape and the elevated patio formed by the roof slab of the lower block.

A cut in the volume of the rooms allows a tree to open its canopy at the height of the patio user, where a generous pool reflects the forest.
