COS 's installations are always the most anticipated. This is because the brand has a habit of inviting leading names in architecture and design to sign its works. Professionals such as Phillip K Smith III and Studio SWINE have created sculptures and architectural structures that have left their mark on visitors and become world references in recent editions.

For 2019, the brand announced who will be the professional who will sign the partnership during
Milan Design Week . The chosen one is Arthur Mamou-Mani, a French architect who stood out at the last edition of the
Burning Man festival with an installation called Galaxia,
formed by 20 wooden lattices that converged like a spiral, tracing different paths to the center, forming a 3D printed mandala. The professional was also named a rising star by the RIBA in 2017. Galaxia por Arthur Mamou-Mani no Burning Man 2018. (Reprodução)
According to Mamou-Mani, COS’s installation for Milan will be a digitally fabricated pavilion that will guide visitors through the courtyard and surrounding gardens of the 16th-century Palazzo Isimbardi, which hosted Phillip K. Smith’s
atmospheric sculpture Open Sky last year.
The pavilion will be built using bio-plastic created through 3D printing, using open-source software that explores the potential of parametric design. Each module will use an algorithmic process that ensures structural suitability and optimizes the amount of material required.
Milan Design Week 2019 will take place from
April 9th to 14th.
