The old showroom was in need of an update, mainly because the exterior of the building bore no visual connection to the furniture company MY DVA Group , which inhabited the interior. When the brand's director decided to hire an architecture studio to renovate the building he jokingly asked architects Ondrej Chybik and Michal Kristof : "do it cheap, preferably for free." Then, seriously, their only requirement was that they create a sculptural facade with minimal interference to the original building. Chybik and Kristof then came up with a design that would use about 900 generic black plastic chairs - costing about 80 CZK ( more or less R$ 10.00) each - to create the covering. In other words, they would meet the serious requirement and the "joke" requirement (every joke has a grain of truth, right?).

The chairs cover three sides of the 550 m² space, with an angular black box entrance jutting out from the irregular surface of the exterior wall. The themed building is situated on the outskirts of Vinohrady, an urban area built in Brno (Czech Republic) in the early 1980s. The original structure of the car showroom was built in the 1990s, in line with the "non-architectural" commercial buildings " that populate the place. Source: Dezeen
