In 2016, CASACOR visited 16 states in Brazil and 2 Latin American countries, leaving a legacy in some of them by restoring emblematic buildings.

The property was built between the 1940s and 1950s, in a neo-colonial Spanish style, which reveals the cultural richness of Cabral's collection. It was listed as a Municipal Historical Heritage site in 1988, and was the last address of the doctor and historian, who became known for his fascination with researching the culture of Santa Catarina. In 2016, the exhibition visited 16 cities in Brazil and two in Latin America. Among them, several palaces, mansions and houses were revitalized, renovated and left as inheritances for the population and the city.

In Goiás, franchisees Eliane Martins and Sheila Podestá chose a property that is part of Goiânia's history. The former building of the Juarez Barbosa High-Cost Medication Center (CMAC), located on Rua 30 and Avenida Tocantins, was the setting for the 36 spaces that made up the exhibit. The 3,000 m² highlighted the architecture and original elements, which included brick walls, high ceilings and other details that were revealed during the renovation. The building is one of the only ones in the region that does not follow the typical art deco style of the time. In addition to updating the aesthetics, the transformations emphasized the concept of sustainability, with solutions ranging from the use of LEDs in lighting to replacing air conditioning with fans or green roofs, solar energy generation and smart faucets. Also during the exhibit, Governor Marconi Perillo declared that the building would become the Casa do Turismo, intended for the local tourism trade and to provide services to tourists visiting the capital. According to the proposal by Goiás Turismo, the site will house the Institute of Tourism Research (Iptur), the Tourist Assistance Center, a tourism library, research rooms, a cafeteria, bank terminals and entities linked to the sector. In addition, the house will have the Tourism Memorial, about the history of tourism in Goiás; the Craftsman's House, with a space for exhibitions; the Vapt Vupt do Turismo and an auditorium.

Once again, we want to collaborate with the renovation of this special stage for the expression of creativity and talent of professionals from Santa Catarina,” stated Marina about the renovation and retrofit project. Twisted columns, spiral railings, ceilings on several levels with star designs, 2 m high doors, solid wood floors and elaborate glass panels, which provide the necessary light for the house, were some of the original inspirations for the professionals to create their projects.

The Palacete do Barão de Camocim, located across from Praça Clóvis Beviláqua, was the headquarters of CASACOR Ceará. A luxurious and historic building, it features unique architecture and portrays an important period in the history of Ceará and Brazil. The property was built in 1880 and has been listed by the City of Fortaleza since 2007. Therefore, the management of the exhibition committed to the City Hall to hand over the property in favorable conditions for use to host the new cultural program of Vila das Artes. Praça Clóvis Beviláqua, located across from the palace, was also revitalized to host interesting events for the exhibition's audience.

Outside of Brazil, the directors of the Latin franchises also maintained their commitment to rescuing the architecture and history of important buildings in the region. CASACOR Bolivia was held for the second time at Colégio Santa Ana: a building steeped in history and rich in architecture. This time, however, the central part and the chapel of the building were restored. In addition, one of the goals was to recover the photographic memory of the school, which educated generations of Bolivian women, and present it to visitors. The 148 m² chapel served as a temporary exhibition hall. During the restoration work, underground buildings were found, similar to those in Tarija and Sucre, cities with networks of tunnels.

Casa Mujica and Casa Paz Soldán, in the center of the capital Lima, were the venues chosen for CASACOR Peru. The first was built at the beginning of the 20th century; the second, a few meters away, is even older and dates back to the 15th century, at the time of Spanish colonization. Courtyards, lobbies, private kitchens and other structures reveal ancient ways of living. They gained a new version with materials, colors and design that visit various eras, from the French aristocratic neoclassical to minimalism and industrial, including the charming 1950s and 1960s in this route.

For CASACOR São Paulo, 2016 was a very special year, as the exhibition took place in the space that hosted the first edition of the event at the Jockey Club of São Paulo, the Ambulatory. The original architecture of the Jockey Club, including that of the Ambulatory building, was designed by Rio de Janeiro architect Elisário da Cunha Bahiana. Between 1946 and 1958, the Ambulatory and the entire complex underwent a major renovation led by French architect Henry Sajous. The facilities were expanded and redesigned with more classic lines. The Ambulatory was composed of 70 indoor and outdoor spaces and was prepared for the exhibition by CASACOR architect Darlan Firmato and restorer Luis Magnani. The restoration was supervised by the historical preservation agency of São Paulo, CONPRESP, and the necessary authorizations were obtained. The building will be handed over renovated by the end of this year to remain as a legacy for the city.

In addition to the Outpatient Clinic, another area of the Jockey Club was restored: the Restaurant. It maintained the structural style of all the other buildings in the club: an architecture with the first lines of rationalism, rustic and simple. It was with this concept in mind that Bárbara Jalles, the professional responsible for the project, was inspired to create the space and its restoration, in addition to maintaining the original characteristics and history of the place. “I say that simplicity is always cool. I looked for references in spaces that have a simplicity in materials, lines and design that brings a lot of history and refinement”, she explains. To achieve this, the architect maintained the general structure of the house, which has 225 m², in addition to the roof, which was renovated, and the carpentry structure. The major changes are in the maximization of the circulation space, which according to the professional “was not well resolved, with problems related to ventilation and circulation to the bathrooms”.

CASACOR Paraná took place in the 6,000 m² historic building of Editora Grupo Paulo Pimentel, a property opened in 1974 and built to house workers and all stages of the then-new offset printing process. “Firm in our commitment to valuing Curitiba’s historic and emblematic heritage, and in the face of the crisis, the exhibition was boldly presented in this historic headquarters,” said the director of CASACOR Paraná, Marina Nessi. The building housed 46 rooms and had its floors, ceilings and other items restored.

Petrópole Tênis Clube hosted CASACOR Rio Grande do Sul and presented 44 spaces. The projects, divided into 3,600 m², revitalize the 1940 building. “The club is entering a new era. To adapt the spaces, a major renovation changed part of the roof, as well as the electrical and plumbing installations. The paint and floors were renewed and the entrance to the headquarters was also restored,” explained franchisee Valdecir Santos.
The exhibition at the historic building was so successful that CASACOR Rio Grande do Sul will once again be held at the Club’s premises in 2017. “In addition to promoting the best in architecture, decoration and landscaping, this is another step in the revitalization process of the club’s headquarters building, which has already delivered areas such as sidewalks and gardens in the surrounding area, among many other structural improvements on site,” emphasizes Valdecir.

For the professionals at CASACOR Mato Grosso do Sul 2016, the restoration of the main house was the inspiration for their projects in the show. The event took place in a traditional modernist residence designed in the 1980s by renowned architect Rubens Gil de Camillo (1934-2000). He was concerned with creating an architectural language that was characteristic of the state, adapted to the population's lifestyle and the physical and bioclimatic aspects. The property has 1,800 m² of built area on a 2,000 m² plot of land. The house has a great location and a bold design with exposed concrete that stimulated the creativity of the team of professionals involved in the show. The owner, Isolina Dibo, allowed the entire restoration to be carried out and was pleased with the result. “Rubens Gil de Camillo worked very hard to build the house. We debated a lot about the construction profile, as it was a very expensive and bold project for the time, but he convinced us and we were very happy with the result,” he said.

CASACOR Minas Gerais took place at the Pampulha Architectural Complex, recently declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. But the show's greatest achievement was the revitalization of the MAP restaurant, which had been closed for many years, approximately 30 years. The MAP Café and Bistro was completely redecorated with the glamour of the 1940s. It was set up in a space overlooking the lake, bringing back the atmosphere of its primeval moments.

A 19th century mansion, located at Avenida Rui Barbosa, 471, in Bairro das Graças was the location chosen to host CASACOR Pernambuco 2016. The house is listed by the State and has original tiled floors, stained glass windows and a history, tradition and luxury . The property has already hosted Luis Carlos Prestes and Getúlio Vargas in its heyday. The original architecture of the mansion allowed the design of several spaces to integrate with the landscape, on the edges of the original 19th century construction. Thanks to the large dimensions, the architecture of the time allowed the same property to have many balconies as a rest area and they were well used by the professionals who carried out their projects on them.

CASACOR Rio occupied Casa Rosa, a 1938 building in an eclectic style, with a 5,000 m² plot of land and 1,000 m² of built area, belonging to the Rocha Miranda family, who lived there for almost 40 years, hosting friends at big celebrations. Although very traditional, the house served as the basis for projects that express the current style of living of Rio residents, with solutions tailored to real life – concerns such as reduced spaces, sustainability and practicality are the order of the day. To revitalize the residence, the paint brand Coral, an official partner of the show, created an exclusive color for the event. To prepare the special shade, called “Rosa da Casa”, the brand considered the tradition and identity of the mansion and added a touch of modernity. The result was a pinkish tone that contrasts with the green of the garden.
