CASA COR SC 2016 will take place in the historic house of Oswaldo Cabral

Marked by the Spanish neocolonial style, is the emblematic house of historian Oswaldo Rodrigues Cabral, in the center of Florianópolis. The mansion was built between the 1940s and 1950s and still has its original features, such as the volutes - spiral shapes that resemble snails. ; and the twisted columns. The property was listed as a Municipal Historical Heritage site in 1898, on the initiative of Cabral's family, who fought to prevent the city government from tearing down the façade in favor of widening Esteves Júnior Street, and, in the end, , managed to keep everything standing.

“The doors have well-made openings, 2 m high and elaborate glass panels that provide the necessary light for the house”, described architect Lilian Mendonça, consultant in historical and cultural heritage and curator of the property where the exhibition will be held. .

Considering the historical importance of the mansion, the franchisees of CASA COR Santa Catarina 2016 , Francis Nessi Bernardo and Luiz Bernardo, chose the property to host the show this year. With that, they took on the responsibility of maintaining its original structure and bringing all the charm , modernity and sophistication that the event has.

To intertwine the past with the present and also rescue the memory of the place, stratigraphic prospecting work is being carried out to help professionals uncover the original colors of the building. With this, it was discovered, for example, that the walls of the house were originally white; the windows, blue and the windowsills, gray.

Another point that will be enhanced through a lighting design intervention will be the ceiling of each room, which has different levels, star designs and other shapes that awaken and enchant those who visit the house.
