Sustainable homes reflect CASACOR's environmental commitment 2016

In addition to waste reduction and energy efficiency, the exhibition took on the role of presenting sustainable methods of building and decorating

Sustainable homes reflect CASACOR's environmental commitment 2016
CASACOR has been committed to sustainability since 2015. In addition to reducing waste, water consumption, reusing materials and improving energy efficiency, the exhibition also began to present to the public sustainable methods of building, decorating and innovating in landscaping projects. The brand has partnered with the consulting firm Inovatech, which developed the project to implement sustainable solutions for the show and a plan of goals until 2020 that seeks to certify the event according to the ISO 20121 standard. Last year, the partnership already showed great results: 85% of the waste was disposed of correctly and 10,437 kWh of energy and 214 m³ of water were saved.

São Paulo


In 2016, the partnership with Inovatech launched the Sustainable House of CASACOR São Paulo , which was the great representative of this new way of living and celebrating the home. Designed by an engineer, Luiz Henrique Ferreira , and two architects, Rodrigo Mindlin Loeb and Caio Dotto , and decorated by Zizi Calderari, the 140 m² construction was modular and 100% demountable and had several systems that made the space self-sufficient, such as rainwater harvesting and energy generation.

Rio de Janeiro


São Paulo was not the only city to present green construction solutions at last year's events. In Rio de Janeiro , Duda Porto once again used the exhibition as a laboratory for ideas and created the Cabanas .

The main cabin houses a 40 m² loft. In the outdoor area, smaller huts form a tree house and a pet house. The construction was made using a metal structure with thermo-acoustic coating, structural OSB type wood, water-repellent blanket and, finally, cement board.

Sustainable from the choice of coverings to larger proposals, such as rainwater collection, solar panels and photovoltaic energy. The architect created a dry, residue-free and zero-waste construction.

"The objective of the project was to create a home with comfort, family warmth and simplicity without losing sophistication", explains Duda. In this way, reused wood was used as an internal covering – on the floor, walls and ceiling. In addition, it opted for large glass openings, favoring the use of natural light, reducing the need for consumption of energy, also creating cross ventilation to improve thermal comfort in the environment.

It is a prototype of a development that is suitable for both residences and hotels and inns: the sustainable house, in modules that can connect and expand according to the client's wishes and needs. At the show, everything was assembled in 15 days. For residential projects, the house is ready in two months.

In line with the work developed in their office, partners Rodolfo Albuquerque and Leonardo Couto designed Loft do Campo at CASACOR Paraíba , a complete home installed inside a 40-foot naval container.

In addition to clean and economical construction, the Loft also presented other sustainable solutions such as an energy generation system that, through four solar panels, produced 100% of the house's energy during the day. With an emphasis on saving electricity, the duo selected appliances with energy efficiency certification.

Rainwater was collected to irrigate the neighboring environment, Burle Marx's garden. Outside, an empty space between the facade and the container created an air cushion and cooled the building.

Minas Gerais


At the invitation of CASACOR Minas Gerais , the BCMF Arquitetura office was challenged to build a sustainable house in just two months, one for planning and the other for execution. The chosen material was 7m x 3m concrete panels, normally used for building bridges and tunnels, but which can be used for many different types of structures.

The construction of the 230 m² Pre-fab House was quick and completely clean, the panels were assembled in the factory and there was no waste of water, rubble or earth movement.

The electrical grid was powered by solar energy and rainwater was reused for assembly.

The Minas Gerais exhibition even outdid itself by operating entirely on solar energy captured on site and supplied by the company OptPower. A container also designed by BCMF Arquitetura architects Silvio Todeschi, Ana Bahia and Mariana Hardy housed all the machinery that distributed electricity to the headquarters and façade. The professionals explored the use of their own photovoltaic energy panels to envelop and cover the entire structure of the space.
