In his second participation in CASACOR São Paulo 2026, architect Felipe Carolo joined Itaú Personnalité, sponsor of the show, to create a project that celebrates art, architecture, design, and generational legacy. In Casa Jacob | Itaú Personnalité, Felipe transforms a family story into a project by honoring his grandfather, who turned 100 in November 2025.
"My grandfather took me in during a difficult time for the family and was decisive in my choice of profession," says Felipe. Still young, he left the countryside of São Paulo to study architecture and moved in with his grandfather in the capital, a coexistence that shaped his training. Filled with vintage references, the space revisits memories of the house where the architect lived with his grandfather and brings together furniture from different eras – from contemporary pieces to mid-century items.
Three pieces from the family collection help build this narrative: the desk from the grandfather's library, a vintage sideboard, and the chest that belonged to the architect's great-great-grandfather. "I wanted to show how inherited furniture brings weight and identity to a project," comments the author of the proposal.
Distributed across 77 sqm, these elements coexist with contemporary design pieces — including creations by Felipe himself — and furniture classics, such as the leather Chesterfield sofa in the living room, a reinterpretation of a model that was part of Mr. Jacob's house.
Next, the kitchen maintains its sophisticated character with curved-design cabinets and a Corian countertop. In the suite, the 1970s atmosphere appears in the low bed on an upholstered base, in the screen, and in the retro-inspired central box.

The color palette combines shades of blue — a reference to the brand's universe, as well as a symbol of study and education — with wood, present on the panels and floor, and bronze finishes. "At CASACOR, we can play more with colors and effects. In the projects, the feeling is different according to the light throughout the day," he explains.
In the social area, other elements reinforce the architect's aesthetic references, such as the sculpture-door inspired by the Bichos series by Lygia Clark, reinterpreted under Bauhaus influence; the Flying Disc chandelier by Ingo Maurer, which occupies the living room ceiling height; and the decorative fireplace covered in bronze formica, illuminated by candles that recall pre-war European and American apartments.

The art curation further expands this repertoire by bringing together works by Maria Antonia, from the Carne da Terra series, Júlio Villani, Pierre Verger, Jandyra Waters, Poliana Toussaint, Tathyana Santiago, and Carol Ambrósio, in addition to the Tempo ceramic object collection, developed by Felipe in partnership with Luiza Navarro.
This clear connection between art, design, and memory dialogues directly with the values of Itaú Personnalité in initiatives that connect its clients to culture, design, and lifestyle through exclusive experiences.
For Felipe Carolo, the project discusses legacy, memory, and the way art and design preserve life stories. "I really wanted to pay this tribute while he is alive. My grandfather has a very refined aesthetic sense, which has always inspired me," says the architect.
